Today I learned something, like any other day I tend to have. I learned that sometimes when I get ideas, my excitement overpowers my common sense. Something compelled me to go to Bulk Barn today to start getting things ready for Cameron's birthday. I figure the day has got to be super special, seeing as its his last birthday that he'll have in town (He can't have birthdays in Edmonton actually, I just decided after reading that last sentence). Seeing as it has to be super special, I decided to let him pick the style of cake he wanted. You know, I really like that he's a total kid at heart, however my wallet is probally not going to enjoy it after I buy all the necessary materials for his.... three tiered firefighter cake. It totally seemed like a good idea at the time too. I just feel bad kinda, I already ruined his birthday a bit with my total impatience...

GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT TODAY??????1//1/?!//1/!/1/!??!!? |
See the thing is, when I get really excited about something, I make like a puppydog and just get all in your face about it...Therefore, I have already spoiled him with most of the gifts he is getting for his birthday, which makes me feel bad. Its totally not his fault I'm a compulsive shopper on my payday. I feel like this cake will make up for that, if if if if if it ends up working.
Anyway, a lot of people have been asking me lately where the whole 'Superman' thing came from. I tend to hear it a lot. The comments start with : "Why does she call herself that? Is it cause she likes to 'Superman'? ;)" and "Uhhhh aren't you a girl? shouldn't it be superwoman?"
First of all, what does that even mean? "Is it cause she likes to 'Superman'? ;)" P-pardon? Every time I've heard this, it's been in a negative connotation. I suppose this must imply something inappropriate, or derogatory or something. But really, "Is it cause she likes to 'fly around saving the day and being the ultimate most well known superhero'? ;)" Rebecca- 1, Haters- 0. Am I living under some sort of rock where I don't know or understand the term "Superman" in some sort of sexual or demeaning way? If I am, please do inform me. Other than the ghetto faboulous Soulja Boy song, I've never heard the term 'Superman' used in any other connotation. Anyway, the name Superman came from a leadership conference I attended in May 2009 called CLAY. :) (Which is in less than a month by the way hoo-rah!) put on by McMaster University. The conference was superhero themed, and conveniently, I stumbled upon one of those muscle suits with a cape attached. Without really asking, I picked it up and put it on for the whole conference. Not a single person knew me by name, but ask anyone who went to that conference who 'Superman' was and they'd know me.
In other news, I got to play Ukulele at Church for the whole congregation on Sunday during mass! :) Super happy about that, therefore bible passage of the post sort of goes hand in hand with that:
Psalms 98:
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;
Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre,
With the lyre and the sound of melody. With trumpets and the sound of the horn
Shout joyfully before the King, the LORD. Let the sea roar and all it contains,
The world and those who dwell in it. Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy . Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And the peoples with equity.
With the lyre and the sound of melody. With trumpets and the sound of the horn
Shout joyfully before the King, the LORD. Let the sea roar and all it contains,
The world and those who dwell in it. Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy . Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness
And the peoples with equity.
Hurray ! :)
